You’ll find it on the doorstep of Marrakech…

A considered oasis of rose-hued villas; gardens, fountains, pavilions, and pools. And oh my, this place is breathtaking. The moorish architecture, the colours, the symmetry, the light…you could have a week-long wedding in Amanjena and barely scratch the surface of its beauty.

But it’s more than that. It’s vows beneath the waving palms, and kisses in the olive groves. It’s lazy spa mornings, and dancing in the desert beneath a blanket of stars.

Simply to visit is to fall in love. To get married here would be an experience like no other.

I visited Amanjena for an editorial earlier this year. And it was a masterclass in beauty. Intentional, and colourful, poetic, and playful…and today I’ll be sharing that beauty with you!

From choosing your colours and textures- to awakening your senses, and finding your suppliers. Here’s 5 styling tips for your wedding in Amanjena, Marrakech.

1. Let’s start with colour

When you’re having your wedding in Amanjena- or anywhere for that matter- the key is to compliment, not clash. You want your styling to look intentional, thoughtful. At home in the space.

So use your styling to celebrate the natural palette of the venue: earthy terracotta, rose, peach, and blush. Sapphire water, lush green gardens, and shimmering gold…

Have neutral colours (ivory, cream, and sand) as your ‘base’. Your linen, your stationery, the foundation of your florals

And then bring it to life with splashes of colour

For a more subtle aesthetic, have accents of blush, rose, peach, and blue. Or you could lean into bolder, more opulent jewel tones- emerald, amethyst, and ruby. And as a stylish nod to Moroccan culture, weave your palette through with touches of gold- lanterns, tableware, and decorative trays.

The Moroccan colourscape is stunning. Embrace it.

2. Textures and materials for your wedding in Amanjena

There’s more to your wedding experience than just the way it looks. Make it tactile, and immersive. Add layers, and textures, and make it whole

The good news is, Amanjena wedding venue gives you a wonderfully tactile base to work from. The sun-warm tiles, and stucco walls. Terracotta pots, and woven baskets; carpets, cushions, and hand-beaten trays.

That tangible feeling is all part of the Moroccan experience. So lean into the venue, and bring these textures into your styling.

Think: textured table-linen, wicker place settings, and embroidered shoes. You could have layered kilims as your aisle runner. Incorporate tiles, wood, and water into your tablescape, or offer hand-woven blankets to your evening guests.

If you’re stuck for inspiration, take a stroll through the madina. It’s a bustling, vibrant, cacophony of texture.

3. Finding your florals

When you’re getting married abroad- whether you’re having your wedding in Amanjena, Amsterdam, or America- local flowers are often best.

They sit in visual harmony with the place itself. They look naturally beautiful; they make your wedding look- and feel- authentic. And better yet- you don’t need to import them!

Fortunately Morocco has a wide range of stunning blooms for you to choose from. Roses, and orange blossoms, poppies, irises, and thistles all grow locally. And for truly authentic florals, pair them with local foliage too- pampas grass, palms, and olive branches.

And if you’re happy to import? The world’s your oyster! We had deep-purple dahlias, and sky-blue hydrangeas. Proteas, freesia, and anthurium. The altar was framed by spectacular floral columns, the tablescapes were spilling with flowers.

You don’t have to keep it local, but do keep it cohesive with your palette. Choose your colours, choose your blooms, and carefully blend them together.

4. Sourcing suppliers for your wedding in Amanjena

As with flowers, local suppliers are often best. They know the area; what will work in the space, and what colours will clash. They’ll be able to suggest things you may not have thought of, solve problems, and sidestep issues.

And from a visual perspective- it’ll make your wedding in Amanjena look authentic.

Your first step here is to talk to the venue. Established venues like Amanjena have trusted supplier lists, and a quick conversation could save you hours of Insta-digging. They might even be able to supply a lot of your lighting and furniture directly.

Failing that, google. Insta. Pinterest. You know the drill.

Look for rental houses that specialise in traditional decor- rugs, lanterns, and furniture. Find a florist who works locally, as they’ll know what flowers and plants will survive in the climate (especially important if you’re heading into the desert).

You’ve chosen this place for a reason. So as much as you can- in every detail, in every aspect- keep your supplier choices (and your money) local.

5. A feast for the senses

Marrakech is a celebration of the senses in every wonderful way. The spices, the sounds, the smells, the tastes. The impeccable light; the inky blanket of the desert sky.

Your guests have travelled across the world to this vibrantly exciting place. Make sure they get to experience it in full.

Have dried fruits and nuts on the table- dates, apricots, and figs. Give them spices as wedding favours; have lantern-lit shisha after dinner.

And if you’re there for a few days? Go for an adventure! Take your guests on a camel ride, or go star gazing in the desert. Have a firebreather, or traditional Moroccan dancers. Book transport to Marrakech, and have an afternoon in the medina.

Oh, and don’t forget to *not* book something. Give them downtime, let them soak in the sun and chill by the pool.

Don’t just have your wedding in Amanjena. Embrace Morocco.

Your wedding in Amanjena should feel like a story…

The story of the place, the culture, the architecture. The flowers you fell for, the colours you chose. The ebb and flow of energy as you move through the spaces.

But more than that- it should be the story of you

Your music, your taste, your collision of styles. Your connection, your closeness, your humour; the things that brought you together, and the people who make you whole.

And as your wedding photographer that’s the story I’ll come to tell. The story of you, just as you are- deeply comfortable, wildly in love. And caught with the beauty your day deserves.
